In May 2007, Wei-Ling Gallery has gathered together some of Malaysia’s most cutting-edge artists, in an exhibition entitled ‘Filtered’.
The exhibition is aimed at portraying the ‘truth’ as seen through the eyes of the artists. For it is through propoganda and the dissemination of information through the media that we are informed of what is happening around us. The artists involved in this exhibition have been selected based on their awareness of what is happening around them and how they respond to the world and times they are living in. The artists will act as filters, to filter through information they have been fed through the mass media-machine. To respond to issues which are close to their heart and/or have made an impact on their lives.
An exhibition with a difference, Filtered, will certainly offer you another look at the news!
The artists whose works will feature in this exhibition are:
Anurendra Jegadeva, Noor Azizan Rahman Paiman, Roslisham Ismail, Sabri Idrus, Khairul Azmir Shoib, Marvin Chan, Zulkifli Yusoff, Ivan Lam, Hamir Soib, Hasnul Jamal Saidon, Ahmad Shukri Mohamed
‘Filtered’ runs at Wei-Ling Gallery from 21st May-15th June 2007. Wei-Ling Gallery is located at No.8 Jalan Scott, Brickfields K.L.50470

The Era Of Shadow Rising
The statement:
Shadow puppet is one of our precious cultural heritage. In the era of globalization and cyber technology, this art form seems to disappear slowly but surely. The new generation starts to seek new things, new media to tell a story. The truth is, without any proper conservation and planning, we will loose this priceless piece of art form. My work represents the revival of the evolved shadow puppet (wayang kulit). This time, the story is about the consequences of pollution on nature and the dying of the traditional art form.
